Dear Mrs. Cunningham,

during my own genealogical research I recently stepped over your outstanding work on your family.

The reason I'm writing to you is, that you have several persons with the surname "Eckert" in your listings. Some of my ancestors from this family - Eckert is the maiden name of my mother - emigrated to the US roundabout 1850 and i've been focussing my own research in finding out where the descendants of these emmigrants settled down. I'm already in steady contact to a few living persons of one decendant line and like to go further on.

It seems to be that your family of Leonhardt Eckert and Magdalene Schnellbecker (http://www.gwennyalogy.org/wc04/wc04_098.htm) correspondend to mine shown on http://www.familievolz.de/phpgedview/family.php?famid=F29 (alternatively go to www.eckert-familytree.de and search for "F29".

The one thing I'm wondering about is, that the date of birth of your "Adam Peter Eckert" is given at 1832, against my information from our local church records state that he was born 23 December 1829. Additionally I found another researcher, Diana Thornton, that also mentioned Adam Peter Eckert's birth in 1832 (http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/h/o/Diana-Thornton/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0018.html).

Could you give me any information on the sources of your findings? Mrs. Thornton refers to a GEDCOM-file she got from a user named Shawnee Ramey.

In your sources I found: "Dec. 8, 1893- Died- In Canton on the night of the third instant, Adam Eckert, aged 63 years. Deceased was born in Germany and came to this country with a brother at the ago of 14, and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa. Afterwards, he came to Canton and engaged in the butcher business." That would fit to my findings (1893 - 63 = 1830 ... or 1829 if he had just a few days to his 64th birthday left). Especially as the emmigrants of my family more or less were all engaged in the butcher/cattle dealer business.

I would be happy, if we could match our findings in that nodal point. If that would be possible I could provide many information on the ancestors of Adam Peter Eckert back to the 1480s in individual cases and hopefully open up a new line of american descendants of my family to get in touch with.

I'm really looking forward to your reply!
Kind regards
Frank Volz
